Not Just Mobility, A New Momentum: One Woman’s Journey to Financial Independence

At Shikhar Dhawan Foundation, we believe that when support meets willpower, nothing stays unachievable. Six months ago, through our LiveliHoodOnWheels initiative, one woman received her adaptive mobility vehicle. What followed wasn’t just movement—it was momentum.

Today, she navigates her path with quiet strength, turning everyday roads into symbols of what’s possible. No spotlight. No stage. Just resilience on wheels, redefining what work, dignity, and financial independence look like for herself and her family.

When Innovation Meets Impact

LiveliHoodOnWheels, powered by A.P. Moller-Maersk and implemented by the Shikhar Dhawan Foundation, addresses two fundamental barriers facing persons with disabilities: mobility and livelihood. The program provides NeoMotion’s revolutionary wheelchair-bike hybrid—a cutting-edge mobility solution that functions both as a wheelchair and an e-bike—enabling users to move independently through their communities.

But the initiative doesn’t stop at mobility. Through partnership with Zomato, beneficiaries receive comprehensive training and onboarding as delivery partners, creating sustainable income opportunities in the gig economy. This dual approach transforms lives by addressing both physical barriers and economic exclusion simultaneously.

Exceeding Every Expectation

The response has been extraordinary. Some beneficiaries have surpassed annual targets in less than a quarter, demonstrating that what people with disabilities often lack isn’t capability—it’s opportunity. In Rajasthan alone, twenty individuals turned every delivery into a statement of resilience, readiness, and rising.

This woman’s journey exemplifies that truth. With her hybrid wheelchair, she gained freedom of movement. With her delivery partnership, she gained financial autonomy. But what she truly built was something deeper: proof that disability doesn’t define potential, and that the right support can unlock extraordinary outcomes.

A Celebration of What She Built

This isn’t a celebration of what the foundation did—it’s a celebration of what she built with the tools provided. Her daily routes aren’t just delivery paths; they’re manifestations of determination, symbols of independence reclaimed, and evidence that when innovation meets inclusion, lives don’t just change—they transform.

The Shikhar Dhawan Foundation operates on the principle of “welfare, not charity,” focusing on sustainable, long-term empowerment rather than one-time aid. This woman’s success six months into her journey validates that approach. She isn’t dependent on continued assistance; she’s now an independent earner contributing to her family’s financial stability.

Expanding the Movement

Due to the overwhelming success and response from initial beneficiaries, LiveliHoodOnWheels is expanding to reach more individuals in need of financial independence. Each new beneficiary represents another life where mobility becomes freedom, where employment restores dignity, and where possibility replaces limitation.

What we see here isn’t just our beneficiary. We see a woman who proves that with the right support meeting unwavering willpower, everyday roads become highways to independence—one delivery, one day, one wheel turn at a time.
