Where Curiosity Meets Technology: Shikhar Dhawan Foundation Inaugurates STEM Lab Under the STEM Shiksha Initiative

What does the future of learning look like?

For us, it looks like giving children the freedom to ask “why?”, the tools to explore “how?”, and the confidence to imagine “what if?”

With this vision, the Shikhar Dhawan Foundation inaugurated a new STEM Lab under its STEM Shiksha initiative, supported by HMD India.

The newly established lab has been designed to give students access to technology, practical learning tools, and an environment that encourages curiosity, experimentation, and innovation. It represents another important step in the Foundation’s mission to make future-ready learning more accessible, engaging, and meaningful for young minds.

A Meaningful Beginning

The inauguration brought together leaders who share a common belief in the transformative power of education.

The occasion was graced by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi Smt. Rekha Gupta Ji, along with Shikhar Dhawan, Chairman of Da One Group and Founder of the Shikhar Dhawan Foundation; Anshita Sharma, CEO, Da One Group; and Ravi Kunwar, CEO, HMD India & APAC.

Together, they reflected on the role of education, innovation, access, and opportunity in empowering the next generation.

Their thoughts reinforced a simple but powerful idea: when students are given the right environment, tools, and encouragement, learning can become a pathway not only to knowledge, but also to confidence, creativity, and possibility.

Creating a Space for Exploration

STEM education becomes most meaningful when students are able to experience concepts beyond theory.

The STEM Lab creates opportunities for students to engage with Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematicsthrough hands-on activities, experiments, problem-solving, and interactive learning.

Instead of simply reading about how things work, students can explore ideas for themselves, test possibilities, learn from mistakes, and understand concepts through real-world application.

This approach helps transform learning from passive instruction into active discovery.

Equipping Students for a Changing World

Technology is rapidly changing the way people live, work, communicate, and solve problems.

For students, preparing for this future requires more than academic knowledge. Skills such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, digital literacy, innovation, and problem-solving are becoming increasingly important.

Through STEM Shiksha, the Shikhar Dhawan Foundation aims to help students develop these capabilities from an early stage.

The STEM Lab gives them a dedicated space to think independently, ask questions, build, test, experiment, and explore new possibilities.

From Curiosity to Innovation

Every innovation begins with curiosity.

A simple question — “Why does this happen?” or “Can this be done differently?” — can become the starting point for deeper learning and discovery.

The STEM Lab has been created to nurture exactly that mindset.

By giving students access to tools, technology, and opportunities for practical exploration, the initiative seeks to help them move from observing ideas to building, testing, and improving them.

The goal is not only to teach STEM subjects, but to encourage a culture in which students feel confident enough to experiment, question, create, and imagine.

Making Future-Ready Learning More Accessible

Access to modern learning infrastructure can significantly influence the opportunities available to students.

Through STEM Shiksha, the Foundation is working to help bridge this gap by bringing technology-led and experiential learning opportunities closer to young learners.

Supported by HMD India, the initiative reflects a shared commitment to making quality education more inclusive, innovative, and relevant to the demands of the future.

The inauguration of the STEM Lab is therefore more than the opening of a new facility. It represents an investment in imagination, skills, confidence, and opportunity.

Building Tomorrow’s Problem-Solvers

Young people will play a central role in shaping the solutions of tomorrow.

By creating environments where they can experiment, innovate, collaborate, and learn through experience, STEM Shiksha aims to help students become more confident learners and creative problem-solvers.

For the Shikhar Dhawan Foundation, the journey is about creating more than technologically equipped classrooms. It is about creating spaces where curiosity meets opportunity and knowledge turns into action.

The newly inaugurated STEM Lab is one more step towards that vision — giving young minds the freedom to ask “why?”, the tools to discover “how?”, and the confidence to imagine “what if?”

And sometimes, that is exactly where the future begins.
