Shikhar Dhawan Foundation is taking the next step in its education mission with the upcoming launch of STEM Shiksha, an initiative designed to equip students with the skills, exposure, and confidence needed for a rapidly changing future.
It was an honour to meet Shri Ashish Sood Ji, Home and Education Minister, Government of NCT of Delhi, and discuss the vision for STEM Shiksha, the evolution of the Foundation’s Digital Shiksha initiative, supported by HMD India.
The meeting focused on how technology-led learning, innovation, and practical STEM education can help create more meaningful and future-ready learning opportunities for students.
From Digital Shiksha to STEM Shiksha
Digital Shiksha has focused on making classroom learning more engaging and accessible through technology-enabled education.
STEM Shiksha builds on that foundation by expanding the learning experience beyond digital content and introducing students to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics through practical, hands-on exploration.
The initiative is envisioned as a first-of-its-kind programme that combines technology, innovation, experimentation, problem-solving, and experiential learning to help students understand not only what they learn, but also how that knowledge can be applied in the real world.
Preparing Students for the Future
The skills required for tomorrow are evolving rapidly.
Critical thinking, creativity, analytical ability, collaboration, digital fluency, and problem-solving are becoming increasingly important across industries and professions.
STEM Shiksha aims to introduce students to these capabilities at an early stage by creating learning environments where they can experiment, build, question, discover, and innovate.
Rather than limiting education to textbooks and classroom instruction, the initiative seeks to make students active participants in the learning process.
Making Quality STEM Education More Accessible
Access to high-quality STEM learning remains an important part of building an inclusive and future-ready education system.
Through STEM Shiksha, Shikhar Dhawan Foundation aims to help bridge this opportunity gap by bringing modern learning tools, hands-on educational experiences, and technology-enabled STEM exposure to students who may otherwise have limited access to such resources.
The long-term vision is to create a model that can grow across schools and communities, helping make future-ready education more accessible across India.
Building the Next Chapter of the Foundation’s Education Mission
The discussion with Shri Ashish Sood Ji marks an important milestone in shaping the next chapter of Shikhar Dhawan Foundation’s work in education.
With the continued support of HMD India, STEM Shiksha represents a significant evolution of Digital Shiksha—from enabling digital classrooms to creating environments where students can explore, innovate, and develop skills for the future.
As the initiative moves forward, the focus remains clear: to make quality, technology-driven and hands-on education accessible to more students and help prepare them for the opportunities of tomorrow.
STEM Shiksha is not just about introducing students to science and technology. It is about inspiring curiosity, building confidence, and giving young minds the tools to imagine, create, and shape the future.
